Obie formy są poprawne, lecz zależeć to będzie od przyjętej formy mianownika: "tata" lub "tato", zaiste podlegają odmianie zgodnej z końcówką (jak "mama" lub "auto").

No, those are separate characters. It also follows the definition of digraph, where pairs of letters are used to denote phoneme.

Quite broad, also there are lots of words that are pronounced (and even written) the same way, but the meaning is very different. There are the exact duplicates, but the rest... Take the word "prasa"...
